ATHENS JAZZ FESTIVAL
The Athens County Stompers will present a concert on Sunday March 17 at ARTS/West - splitting the performance with the Athens Community Jazz Ensemble.
The Athens County Stompers play jazz music from its earliest days, featuring music of Jelly Roll Morton, the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, Louis Armstrong's Hot Five, King Oliver, W.C. Handy, and many more.
Members include Ben Wright (tpt), Matt James (saxophone), Lucas Rego Borges (bone), Ken Dean (subbing on drums), Michael Tobar (keys), and Jason Smith (sousaphone/tuba). The band was founded by Professor Emeritus Ernie Bastin, pictured with the band below.
