Ohio University Saxophone Studio Performs Jazz Saxophone Transcriptions

Join the talented students of the OU Saxophone Studio as they perform transcriptions of jazz saxophone solos performed by jazz greats from yesterday and today. Each student has painstakingly learned a jazz solo by ear, notated it, and prepared a performance along with the original recording. This process trains the ears, teaches students about jazz phrasing/articulation/sound, and provides a window into the improvisational genius of some great jazz musicians.
You're welcome to attend in person in Glidden Hall room 480, but we'll record the performance too and post it to Facebook.
