Steven Heffner has performed with world class talents including Christian McBride, Chris Potter, Rashawn Ross, Audry Ochoa, Andy Leverne, Luis Bonilla, Bill Watrous, Jeff Clayton, Hal Galper, The One O’Clock Lab Band, and many others. While performing actively throughout the DFW metroplex, Steven has also toured internationally with numerous groups including In 6ix, made up of jazz and classical performers including Scott Tixier, Davy Mooney, and Quincy Davis. As an educator, Steven received his DMA from the University of North Texas where his research orbits the free improvisations of Dave Holland and Sam Rivers with special attention given to the pedagogical skills necessary to foster those skill sets in the inexperienced bassist. Steven currently serves as a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas and has also taught at Marshall University, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Eastern Washington University.
